The Estelle Trust - Helping to improve education, health and governance in Africa.

Who we are and what we do

The Estelle Trust is a small charitable fund. It develops and sponsors its own community-based projects in central district of Zambia. It also makes donations to more general schemes for improving education, health and conflict resolution in Africa and elsewhere.

Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world: over three quarters of the population live on an income of less than $1 a day. Only one in five people are in formal employment. The proportion of the adult population with HIV/AIDS is estimated at around 20%.

The Estelle Trust also makes contributions to charitable projects and programmes based in the UK; in particular those concerned with education and disadvantaged children. The administrative costs of the Estelle Trust are paid for by the Ashgate Publishing Group thus enabling the Trust to maximize its financial contribution to the aid projects.
